August is when the people of Davao City celebrates a week of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. It is the city's celebration for all the good things mother nature blessed the city and its ethnic beginnings. The celebration this year officially opened on the 12th , but various activities will be staged starting the 17th of this month.

The city at this time of the year abounds with all kinds of fruits that are displayed almost everywhere in the city. It is also the time of the year that flowers are in full bloom and made the city so colorful. There are areas properly set-up by the government to showcase Davao's bounty, it could be in Trade Fair, Bazaars, Shopping Malls or on the Local Markets.

People from other countries will  ask where in the map would that be? Or some, who knew where is it located will say it's too risky to be here. THAT, is one misconception the city has earned just because it is situated in the war stricken Mindanao in the Philippines. Even some Filipinos who did not have the opportunity to visit the place are reluctant to try, for fear from the misconception and what Davao has been years ago.

As the metropolis of Mindanao, the  city is labeled as the largest in terms of land area . It is the melting pot of  cultures from the north, south and central Mindanao, and the center of trade and industry. People from the neighboring cities and towns opt to go to Davao for business and leisure. Students prefer to go the prestigious colleges in the city and some just opt to live in Davao due to its well imposed order and security.

What can one get out of blogging?

Well, aside from other bloggers who had turned their blogs into a money making venture, it's a zilch. A blogger might spend minutes to hours in front of the computer organizing thoughts and emotions, transcribing them into something that the readers could enjoy and relate to. In a way, when a blogger shares the piece he/she wrote, it is also sharing a part of that person. Also, every blog page has it's own personality. A personality that may be giving us a glimpse to the kind of person who owns the blog.

I have been, in my own term a "blog-o-holic" . Next to reading books and novels which normally consumes my free time, I turn to the internet for more  reading materials. Aside from current events, I browse for blogs and look for something that may interest me. There are a lot of good sites in the so called "blogosphere". Various topics are being discussed may it be: Gardening, Cooking, Dramas, Movies, Fashion and so on. Hundreds of blog sites will get you hooked for hours and will keep you returning for more, some are humorous and some straight forward. Whatever your fancy is, you'll definitely find something that will suit your taste.
